Aqua Accessibility Grant Success

Bay Island Lifestyle
Congratulations to Bay Island Water Sports, who officially launched their new “Aqua Accessibility” initiative on 21 September.

The initiative, only made possible by a successful $145k+ grant from the QLD government’s Accessible Tourism Elevate Fund, aims to make water sports more accessible to people of all abilities and to grow tourism in the Redlands Coast region.

With the grant, Bay Island Water Sports has been able to expand its fleet of watercraft to include vessels with outriggers, purpose-built seated paddleboards, water and beach wheelchairs, beach access mats and a range of kayaks, other vessels and safety equipment suitable for different needs and abilities. The business has also purchased a fabulous new trailer to transport all their new equipment to various locations across the region and out into new areas, including Warwick and Tweed Heads, where bookings have already been received.

The Accessible Tourism Elevate Fund was funded under the 2023 Year of Accessible Tourism and we’re proud to have helped business owners Karen and Ashley position their application to be successful.

Pop down to Raby Bay in Redlands this weekend and check out all the new watersports equipment. Find them here.

Exciting news for the Eczema Association of Australasia, who’ve secured funding from the Redland City Council Organisation Support grant and the Redland Foundation Geoffry and Geraldine Underhill grant recently. These grants will enable the organisation to enhance their online presence and strengthen their connection with the local community.

The Eczema Association of Australasia is a support service dedicated to raising awareness of eczema management and treatment and its impact on the lives people of all ages. These grants will allow the Association to be better equipped when reaching out to the Redlands community and to provide better information and support to Redlands families affected by eczema.
